Letting go of sin by following Jesus Christ

How much suffering must we endure before we decide to let go of the natural man, repent, and follow Jesus Christ? […click here for video…]

Life will always involve suffering. That is inescapable. But why not choose the way of joy and peace as well? Why not repent and follow Christ?

Most people view repentance as this horrible, punitive thing. They view repentance as the worst kind of suffering. In this, they are gravely mistaken. The way of repentance, by following Jesus Christ, is the most joyous way there is.

When we repent and partake of the love of Christ, drinking the waters of life, and eating the bread of life, we fill our souls with that joy which surpasses our current understanding.

Jesus Christ invites everyone to come and follow him.

This is not a casual commandment, or an impossible thing. He has made it possible. But we must choose to love him with all our heart, might, mind, and strength, giving everything to him.

When we give him everything we have, he gives us everything he has, including that joy which surpasses our current understanding. Those who have not tasted the joy that Jesus gives cannot understand it. Those who have tasted it have a very difficult time explaining it.

Nephi explained it as “the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things.” And then the angel he was conversing with said: “Yea! And the most joyous to the soul!”

Now is the time for all of us to arise from the dust, shake off our sins, round up our shoulders, and follow Jesus Christ with full purpose of heart, giving everything to him.

Verily, I say unto you, repent, and follow Jesus Christ!
