How can we control our thoughts and desires?
Controlling our thoughts and desires is like walking through the forest at night with a flashlight. Where you shine your flashlight is where you will go.
Where you shine your flashlight is determined by what you focus on and by what you choose to do!
What do you spend your time on? Whatever that is, that is where your thoughts and desires will go.
Playing computer games, reading fantasy novels, watching YouTube shorts, looking at porn, being idle–these things cause evil thoughts and desires because they lead us away from doing the best good we know we could do.
Where your focus is, there will your heart be also.
Always being actively engaged in a good cause by always seeking to do good is how we can discipline and control our thoughts and desires. This is an act of faith. It requires constant study, evaluation, and deliberate effort.
It doesn’t mean you have to be working all the time. Rest and quality time with family are very important. It just means that you are 100% deliberate in all you do, in steering the path you take through life to align perfectly with the straight and narrow path of righteousness, the best you know how.
Repentance is the path of joy.
How many people do you know who actually believe that. And yet, it is true!
Repentance is achieved by aligning your mind, heart, and actions with what you sincerely believe the ideal you would do, or what Jesus would do, by always doing good.
To do good is to do that which brings the best value, best benefit, and best outcome.
Always having pure and righteous thoughts, feelings, and desires, as you continually do good, is the measurement of all righteousness. And it is 100% possible!
So let us all repent, by learning to always have righteous thoughts, feelings, desires, and actions, according to the goodness of God, as he reveals his goodness and mercy to each of us, day by day.
