The purpose of God is to facilitate the improvement and perfection of his children. He wants us to be better. He wants us to become perfect, even as he is perfect. This perfection includes many facets.
Ultimately, our Father in Heaven, who is God, wants us to become like him. He wants us to become holy, even as he is holy. Holy means better; it might even mean best. God wants us to be the best we can be.
If you were to try to describe, in simple terms, what God is, you might describe him as a righteous husband, father, teacher, ruler, warrior, protector, provider, neighbor, and friend. He is these things because these things are needed. These are good things to be.
Similarly, the Lord needs men to be:
- Righteous Husbands and Fathers
- Righteous Teachers
- Righteous Rulers
- Righteous Warriors and Protectors
- Righteous Providers
- Righteous Neighbors
- Righteous Friends
And so, as we endeavor to become more like our Father in Heaven, these are roles that we ought to seek to become better at, to learn about, and to become.
If you are wondering what you should do with your life, learning to be righteous in these ways is the best thing you can possibly do. We should be seeking to be wise and effective as righteous husbands, fathers, teachers, rulers, warriors, protectors, providers, neighbors, and friends.
A righteous priest is all of these things. A righteous king is also all of these things.
These superlative roles require much study, searching, and faith.
Let each man who desires righteousness seek to excel in each of these things as best he may.
In this brief article, I wish to emphasize the need for righteous rulers. The Lord really needs more men to stand up and lead in their families, communities, and countries as righteous rulers. This requires much preparation. This requires much study, learning, and wisdom. This requires much toil, diligence, and sacrifice.
Righteous rulers need to understand the principles of righteousness. They need to understand justice, mercy, fundamental rights, the proper role of government, and the proper role of kings.
Zion cannot be established without a core of righteous kings.
It is time for the sons of Zion to arise from the dust, repent, have faith in Christ, become true disciples of Christ, and prepare themselves in every way to be righteous priests and kings.
