Fundamental Principles
- The most critical tests require many years to prepare for.
- The best things in life require the most work and sacrifice to obtain.
- Deathbed repentance doesn’t work, because repentance is all about improvement and the benefits of doing good; it is not about remorse or admitting you were foolish or wrong.
- Nuclear war is very survivable for those who prepare properly in very specific ways.
- Most people will not survive a nuclear holocaust; in fact, most of the people you know will most likely die. Be prepared for that.
- Those who survive the coming nuclear war will find that living through such events was (comparatively) the easy part; what happens afterward will be much harder. And only a fraction of those who survive the nuclear war will survive the next ten years after that.
- Physical survival is not the objective, repentance and faith in Christ is the objective. Only this perspective will save you or anyone else.
- Begin now to meet your Maker by repentance and faith. This is Plan A, and there is no Plan B.
- Begin now to do everything you can to meet the demands of the future, through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. And understand that most of what it means to repent and have faith in Jesus Christ does not include doing churchy things. All the details of your life are very important. To repent and have faith in Christ means that everything you do aligns with what you sincerely believe is good and is best, according to the demands of conscience, and according to the specifications of God’s word.
- The seven years of famine were preceded by seven years of plenty. We’ve had much more than seven years already. Do not assume that there will ever be any more time to prepare. Prepare now to be saved.
- From here on out, this presentation will focus on physical preparedness.
- Physical preparedness is useless without spiritual preparedness. And spiritual preparedness includes physical preparedness.
- Always prioritize spiritual preparedness, but do not be so foolish as to leave prudential physical preparedness undone.
The EMP – Electromagnetic Pulse
Definition: an intense burst of electromagnetic energy, especially one generated by a nuclear explosion occurring in the upper atmosphere. An EMP can be caused by a nuclear weapon explosion in the upper atmosphere. It can also theoretically be caused by a solar storm or solar flare. An EMP attack is characterized by multiple nuclear weapons being detonated in the upper atmosphere which causes most electronics within hundreds of miles to cease working. Any electrical device that uses IC chips or IC electronics will become disabled by the electromagnetic energy which fries the microscopic circuitry. This is because IC electronics can only handle very low voltage electrical current. An EMP can cause momentary, high voltage/high amperage current which will damage IC electronics.
The scope and intensity of an EMP attack is unknown. Much depends on the severity or intensity of the nuclear explosions, the altitude, and other atmosphere phenomenon. Thus, it is very difficult to predict the radius, severity, and magnitude of damage which might be caused by an EMP attack since such factors and variables are unknown in such a hypothetical scenario.
What will be the results of an EMP?
Immediate:
- The national power grid systems will go offline.
- Sanitation systems will go offline.
- Most electronic devices will cease to function.
- All modes of motor transportation will cease.
- National security and national defense systems will likely go offline.
- Big cities will immediately become rife with chaos, crime, violence, fear, and pandemonium.
- Government agencies will cease operations.
- The rule of law will cease.
- The public social contract will cease.
- Anarchy will ensue.
Short Term:
- Food supply systems will cease operation and most people will run out of food in just a few weeks.
- Roving mobs will go about pillaging, killing, and causing all manner of chaos and destruction.
- Sickness and disease will run rampant as the result of poor sanitation, no clean water, and basic infrastructure commodities becoming unavailable and nonfunctional.
- Mobs, gangs, and anarchists will start seizing control of towns, cities, and counties.
- Depending on locations and the time of year, people will suffer greatly from extreme heat or extreme cold, dehydration, and malnutrition.
- Death, destruction, and gore will become common scenes.
- People who have food and preparedness items will become targets of criminal acts by those searching for resources. Lights, the sound of engines running, people who look well-fed, these will attract people with hostile intent.
Long Term:
- After a few months, after millions have died and society has been sent back to the stone age, a foreign invasion or foreign attack will ensue from Russia, China, and other affiliate countries.
- Foreign powers will take control of the country.
- Small groups will begin to build back.
- An entirely new type of economy will emerge led by people who can provide those things that are needed most. People will trade their independence and false dignity for improvement.
How can we prepare for an EMP attack?
- Make plans for how you will be able to provide the necessities of life without electricity. These necessities include: shelter, warmth, clean water, food, security, medical needs, and the replenishment of needed recourses. Making these preparations takes considerable time.
- Shelter: If possible, move to a better location. Be prepared to modify your home in the event of an EMP attack.
- Faraday Container. You can construct Faraday compartments that block EMP waves using metallic insulation materials available at Lows or Home Depot. You can then place in these compartments electronics you might want to have available after an EMP attack. These might include: Inverters, Solar Panel controllers, a small low-watt microwave, battery recharger, radios, etc. Items like batteries, flashlights, cordless drills, etc, probably don’t need EMP shielding.
- Batteries. Obtain some high-capacity batteries that can provide electrical power through inverters, etc. Batteries do not contain IC circuits and don’t need EMP shielding. Batteries are only temporary solutions without the means for recharging them. These types of technological preparations require a lot of research.
- Generators. Generators probably won’t work after an EMP attack, unless they are placed in a Faraway container. Regardless, the noise of generators running will attract unwanted attention. Be careful. Lights will also attract unwanted attention.
- Warmth. The fastest way to die (other than being shot, poisoned, or accident) is to freeze to death. Having warm clothes that don’t absorb water is very important. Foam clothing, wool, and synthetic materials are good. Cotton is bad. A wood stove might be helpful if you live in the country.
- Clean Water. Have water storage. Water Barrels are good. Have several water filtration devices. Be careful with water. Water filtration devices do not filter out most deadly chemicals.
- Food. Food storage is very important. It can be difficult to obtain good food storage items in many areas. I am mainly limited to what I can obtain at Sams Club and Costco. These items include beans, rice, sugar, flour, canned goods, etc. Flour has a short shelf life. Try to cycle your food storage. Get educated on food storage principles. Have a good stockpile of non-GMO garden seeds. Know how to garden. Prepare good soil in advance.
- Security. Know your neighbors. Have a security plan in place for your neighborhood. Obtain self defense equipment you are comfortable using. Make sure you and your family are proficient with whatever you have. Be discreet. Don’t tell all your neighbors what you have. Remember, discretion is the better part of valor.
- Medical Needs. Have herms, medicines, and medical supplies stored up. Have seeds for medicinal plants.
Nuclear War
Definition: A nuclear war is a war in which nuclear weapons are used. These might include EMP attacks, nuclear missiles, and nuclear bombs.
The two main types of nuclear weapons are fission bombs and thermonuclear bombs:
Fission bombs: Also known as atomic bombs, these weapons use fission to split heavy nuclei into smaller ones. The atomic bombs used in World War II, Little Boy and Fat Man, were fission bombs.
Thermonuclear bombs: Also known as hydrogen bombs, these weapons use fission to ignite fusion. Fusion is the process of combining two light elements to create a heavier one. Thermonuclear bombs can be thousands of times more powerful than atomic bombs.
Nuclear weapons can also be categorized as strategic or non-strategic:
Strategic weapons: Delivered by intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), or heavy bombers.
Non-strategic weapons: Also known as “tactical” or “theater” nuclear weapons, these include bombs delivered by dual-capable aircraft (DCA), cruise missiles, and other delivery systems.
Nuclear War Considerations
- The general thought among “experts” is that a nuclear war will be preceded with an EMP attack or will include an EMP attack.
- The collateral damage imposed by nuclear weapons (i.e. radioactive fallout) is deemed undesirable, and so the use of nuclear weapons will be mostly tactical. They will mainly be used to eliminate military targets and undesirable population centers, or big cities.
- Depending on the type and size of the nuclear weapons used, the destruction within 50 to 100 miles of the target may be devastating. Of course, small tactical nukes can limit explosions to very localized areas, say, a quarter mile radius.
- The nuclear blast itself will obliterate or greatly damage most structures within a given radius, but then the heat wave ensuing will also cause great destruction. Finally, the nuclear fallout produced by nuclear charged, radioactive particles that are spread from the surface to far up in the atmosphere, and then are carried thousands of miles downwind of the event will cause radiation sickness, cancer, genetic defects, and death.
- The chief danger from radioactive fallout is ingesting or inhaling radioactive particles. This will kill you quite quickly. For this reason, remaining in fallout shelters for at least 14 days is recommended. Definitely, do not venture out of your shelter any sooner than 7 days; and in such cases you should wear protective gear covering your entire body, you should wear a Full Face Particle and Chemical Respirator Mask, and you should be completely cleaned off before reentering your shelter.
- Assuming you have survived the initial attack and you are near your home, you should have some time to get home and make some final preparations for staying indoors for several days. If you have a basement, that will probably be where you will need to remain for the next 14 days. Before you shut yourself inside there are several things you should do. It would be wise to have a paper checklist with these items written down, so you don’t forget any of them.
Checklist for Making Your Home a Fallout Shelter
- The basement is typically your best choice for a fallout shelter location. Prepare your basement ahead of time. Joel Skousen has lots of information for doing this. Google: The Secure Home. Or visit JoelSkousen.com
- Seal off all exterior ventilation ducts and openings on your home exterior using UV Resistant Duct Tape and Plastic.
- Seal off all interior vents, openings, windows, etc. using Duct Tape and plastic.
- Shutoff the main electrical breaker(s) to your home.
- Shutoff the main water supply line to your home.
- Shutoff natural gas and propane gas lines to your home.
- Flush all the toilets and stuff rags into the toilets to prevent sewage from backflowing into your home. (If you are connected to city sewer system, then this could be a very big problem.)
- Remove covers from drains and stuff rags into these to prevent sewer backflow. Drains can be difficult to stop up. You may need to pile a bunch of dirt in your bath-tub, shower, and sinks, and maybe even your toilets, just to be on the safe side. This dirt can be easily removed later.
- Get several buckets of dirt and bring them into your basement. (Assuming you don’t have a porta poddy system available, you will need to poop in a bucket and cover the poop with some dirt. The microbes in the dirt will quickly treat the poop and make it less septic. If you are using a porta-poddy system, make sure you have large containers to empty the receptacle tank, and plenty of water for the flush tank, plus chemicals, as needed.
- Use a separate porta-poddy for urine. This will make things much easier.
- You should already have ample water storage in your basement.
- You should already have ample food storage in your basement. Have food that doesn’t require cooking or difficult preparation.
- You should already have your prepper gear in your basement. This might include: firearms, bedding, warm clothes, flashlights, batteries, medical supplies, etc.
- Having a Faraday Container with good LifePo batteries, inverters, and a low-wattage microwave might be very useful. This may also be needed as backup to run a basement sump pump.
- If you have emergency Car Kits, bring these inside.
- Have hazmat suits and air respirators on hand. (You will want to wear these if outside of your shelter until you know it is safe. Also, someone should remain upstairs with a gun, wearing this protective gear, to defend your home from thieves.)
- Bring food from your kitchen and pantry into your basement, as might be desirable.
- Prepare two windows to safely vent outside air with an adjustable baffle, battery-powered, filtration-fan device. (Have an Oxygen Detector. When oxygen drops below 19%, or when it becomes too difficult to breath, you will need to filter clean air into your shelter and exhaust the bad air out. Directions: Tape 3 HVAC filters together, tape these to a box fan, tape this unit to an open basement window. Cover this unit with plastic until it needs to be used. Power this with a LifePo 12-volt battery and inverter. Most box fans require less than 100 watts, so a high-power inverter is not needed. If you position one unit for inflow and another unit for outflow, then you should be able to safely ventilate a basement in just 30 minutes.
- Have potassium iodide tablets available to take once the fallout has arrived. Your shelter may not successfully prevent entry of fallout particles.
- While sheltering in your basement, take high quality multi-vitamins. You will especially need vitamins C and D. Do your research.
- While sheltering in your basement, eat very little—maybe one meal each day. Sanitation is difficult in such conditions, so minimum pooping is good. And you don’t need much food just sitting in a basement. This will also be a good time to cleanse your bodies through fasting.
- While sheltering in your basement, make as little noise as possible. Be on the alert. Don’t let any light shine out of windows. Don’t do anything to attract marauders.
- Having a small exercise bike and some weights for exercise might be useful.
- Keep an emergency radio in your Faraday container so you can monitor any radio transmissions for intel on what is going on in the world outside.
How can we prepare for a nuclear war?
- Read. Preparing for nuclear war is a massive topic. Books have been written on this. You should probably read some of them. Knowing is half the battle.
- Make a plan. Preparing for the coming nuclear war takes considerable time, effort, study, money, and ingenuity. It’s not a single-step process. So, do your research and make a plan. Make a checklist and then get it done.
- Live righteously. Understand that you could spend millions of dollars on this and then lose everything in a single day. And so, your spiritual preparation is what matters most. You need to be a true disciple of Christ with the powers of heaven guiding and blessing you in everything you do, because you are living righteously.
- Move to a better place. It should be apparent, at this point, that living in the city is really a bad place to be in a nuclear war scenario. Even if you have all the stuff, as it were, it is still going to be a super bad place to be. Between your sewer backing up, all the danger from crazy people, and then not being in a position to grow your own food afterwards, the situation is well nigh impossible. And so, if you live in town, you will definitely need to leave at some point. It will be much easier now than later.
- Execute your plan.
